A three-night concert series dedicated to the friendship between the Czech Republic and Slovakia on the occasion ofthe 100th anniversary ofthe founding ofCzechoslovakiawas a celebratory, meditative program of compositions arranged in the Western musical style and performed by outstanding musicians from across Europe.
The main arrangements were composed and conducted bySahadeva Torpy, an experienced pianist from London who has been practicing meditation for more than 30 years. In 2014, he formed an unconventional international orchestra composed of outstanding musicians from several European countries so that he could share with the public the extraordinary experience of combining music and meditation simultaneously. The concert culminated with the song “Czechoslovakia,” which the composer, Sri Chinmoy, dedicated in 1990 to the newly regained freedom of what was then Czechoslovakia.
